A part of my business model and passion is making the memory of a shoot, especially big life events such as senior graduation, a more comprehensive and memorable experience. Creating artistic images has been such a passion for me but I am now adding on the magic of short video clips to enhance the feeling and experience of the day. This is my premiere video with the beautiful Sarah!

Music: Mindy Gledhill  {license through Triple Scoop Music}

The song is called "Whole Wide World" and it absolutely perfect for Sarah and any young woman taking on the world after graduation. Below are the lyrics that I must share because they make me tear up in and of themselves.

Thank you Sarah for being so amazing and full of life! We all love you and are so excited for you!

Be Fabulous,

Desiree

WHOLE WIDE WORD

I’m gonna walk a hundred miles
I’m gonna whistle all the while
If that’s what it takes to make me smile
I’m gonna walk a hundred miles

I’m gonna run right up this hill
Summer sky or winter chill
If I gotta take a break I will
But I’m gonna run right up this hill

I wanna hold the whole wide world
Right here in my open hands
Maybe I’m just a little girl
A little girl with great big plans

I’m gonna go and take a chance
I’m gonna learn to ballet dance
Learn a little something ‘bout romance
I’m gonna go and take a chance

I’m gonna live a crazy dream
Impossible as it may seem
Doesn’t matter what the future brings
I’m gonna live a crazy dream

You tell me, “don’t try it”
I’m warning you that I won’t buy it
All failure is fleeting
I trust it always has its meaning

McKenzie - Hope Has a Heart

April 11, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

The day this precious little girl came to my home, aka my studio, I felt an intense sweet energy that left me giddy even after her departure. I have already told her amazing miraculous story in the blog before ( READ HERE ), so I'll keep this short.

Let the images speak for themselves. In some of them she is holding her courage beads, each bead representing a significant event that she went through while fighting for her life... surgeries, transfusions, and finally the heart transplant. She continues to fight the fight today. She is a walking miracle and her smile lights up a room. The last image is with McKenzie and her big sister, Grace.... it was a snapshot, but I love it so much, it is being added to the blog. :) Bask in her glow as I have.

Love, Désirée

Little McKenzie was born to Mandy and Jesse Young on May 2, 2012 perfectly healthy. Yet, only 10 days later, something was wrong. She was rushed to the ER of Children's Hospital of Dallas which became the beginning of a nightmarish seven-week ICU stay. A big blur of medical procedures and surgeries trying to keep McKenzie alive ensued. McKenzie had contracted the Enterovirus, a virus that is as common as the cold, but fatal to newborn babies.

The virus destroyed her heart within days and the only way of survival would have to come in the form of a heart transplant. With the waiting list for such a precious organ being between 6-9 months, the likelihood of her survival seemed very bleak. In constant prayer for a miracle, the Young family got one. Only 18 days later, a perfect little heart appeared for McKenzie. While the miracle had been answered, thoughts and prayers went out to the family who was experiencing grief from loss that was now allowing McKenzie to have her miraculous transplant.

McKenzie will always have costs related to this and will constantly be fighting to keep her immune system in check and ensure her body doesn't reject her new heart. It won't be an easy road, but little McKenzie has a powerful and courageous spirit! The race along with other fundraisers throughout the year will be to beef up her account with COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Association) for these anticipated hardships and future needs.

It was a bone-chilling morning at Harry Myers Park for the first annual "Run Your Heart Out" 5K and Fun Run. The date is also the 8th month anniversary of McKenzie's new heart! The run was sponsored through the COTA and was directed by Mrs. Tiffany Portis. There was an outpouring of sponsorship support in the way of monetary funds as well as gifts and raffle prizes that far exceeded expectations.

The turn out for this event was phenomenal! As event director, Tiffany Portis, announced, the total number of actual runners that morning was 318! The race was able to make a profit of close to $15,000 that will go straight to McKenzie's COTA fund! We want to thank the community of Rockwall and surrounding areas, to include the businesses within, that gave financially or in other ways, to this great cause! The day exuded a sense of community and love and we know that next year's race will only be greater! Be prepared for NEXT YEAR to run for McKenzie on February 22, 2014!

With much love,
Desiree

Indigo Peaks Photography and Cloud9 Photography are also donating all funds from the purchasing of images of the race directly to McKenzie's COTA fund.

BREAK FREE from Negativity and Rejoice! {Rockwall Lifestyle Photographer}

Barbed Wire. Forcing us to remain confined or in some cases, 'protecting' us from what can come within. Or is it really?

Barbed wire has come to symbolize oppression and denial of freedom. I was surrounded by it for a couple of years (in our case, trying to keep bad guys out). Its' presence always seemed oppressive to me, regardless of intended purpose.

For me the battle lies in the spiritual denial of freedom at times. Constantly being attacked by negative attitudes, forces, energies, etc...yet, God has really given me spiritual freedom. Allowed me to cut through the barbed wire surrounding my heart, my life, and BREAK FREE!

There will always be something or someone trying to hold you back. Don't let it. Perceive these things as 'barbed wire', trying to hold you in from your true potential, from the greatness God has planned for you. Take those wire cutters with you at all times and cut through. And although cutting through can sometimes lead to dangers outside the wire, it's the freedom in that discovery, the faith in that journey that really makes life worth living.

"Would you believe me would you listen if i told you that
there is a love that makes a way, it'll never hold you back
so wont you break wont you BREAK FREE
get up and dance in His love
so won't you break, won't you BREAK FREE
get up and dance in His love"

Prison Love. No. Really.

She was there to take video testimonials for Disciples of Christ.

He was there to lead worship in the chapel.

Neither one knowing that that night they would meet the love God had destined for them.

The story goes back further though. Near the small town of Ruidoso, NM. She had been there during a time of great trials in her heart, having been told by a random stranger at a retreat... "He will find you, and he will be a man."

He was in that area at another time as well and was told, "You are a man now".

Fast-forward back to the chance meeting in prison. As Adrienne was walking out, just before bumping into Jason in the departure line, a female prisoner spontaneously said to her, "He will find you".

And he did. That very same night.

Love. God's destined love. It'll find you at times when you least expect it, such as in a prison, yet it will always find you if you're open to the divine possibilities in store for you.

Congratulations dearest Adrienne and Jason. It was my deepest honor to have been part of your special day and to witness the beauty of God's plan unfolding before my eyes.

Désirée
